Waverly Hills Sanatorium is a former sanatorium located in Louisville, Kentucky. This sanatorium was opened in 1910 in purpose to heal tuberculosis which was spreading fastly back then.
Because tuberculosis was a dreadful disease and there was no special cure for this disease, the mortality rate of this hospital increased rapidly. By 1925 the mortality rate went so high that a patient was dying every hour in this sanatorium.
Also, the treatment given to the patients here were painful. As there was no antibiotic available at that time many painful surgeries were conducted on patients in an attempt to treat tuberculosis. As there were no anaesthetics back then these surgeries were conducted on patients at their conscious stage and only a few people survived these painful processes.
All these events along with many other tragic incidents took place here is considered to be the reason for this place to become haunted.
