5 of the Most Haunted Forests around the World



There are many forests on our planet. In fact, Forests cover around 31% of the total land area. But there are some forests that are infamous for being haunted and here is the list of 3 haunted forests in the world.

Aokigahara Forest, Japan

Also known as the "sea of trees", Aokigahara is a 35 square kilometre forest located in Yamanashi Prefecture in Japan.

Aokigahara is infamous worldwide as a place of mass suicide. Every year many people come here to end their lives.

Due to this, there are signboards everywhere in this forest and its premises saying "life is precious" or "life is a precious gift from your parents" et in an attempt to refrain people from committing suicide.

Due to the mass suicide, the police do an annual search in the forests to retrieve as many corpses as they can.

Many believe that the ghosts of these people haunt this forest and that's why Aokigahara is considered to be the most haunted location in Japan.


Hoia Baciu Forest, Romania

Located in near Cluj Napoca in TransylvaniaRomania.  Hoia Baciu is infamous as a scary forest.

There's a story of once a young girl disappeared into the only to reappear after 5 years and she was unable to remember where she was all this time.

Another tale says that once a shepherd vanished in the forests along with his sheep, never to be seen again.

Some people who visited here said that they felt anxiety and a strange feeling of someone staring at them while inside the forest.

It is also said that a giggling sound of a woman can be heard from deep inside the forest.

Many people consider this place has some connection to the extraterrestrial as many UFO sightings were reported from here.

All these are the reason that this forest is also known as the "Bermuda Triangle of Romania".

Dow Hills, India




Dow hills, located at Kurseong, Darjeeling in West Bengal, India.

The forests in this area are considered to be haunted. 

It is said that many people were murdered in this area and their ghosts are believed to haunt this place.

The most famous legend surrounding this place is that a ghost of a headless boy who is believed to follow the people passing through this area.

Black Forest, Germany




Located in Southwestern Germany, the Black Forest is so densely forested that even in the afternoon only a little sunlight pierces through it.

The Black Forest is also the origin point of the river Danube.

Besides all of these, the Black Forest is a spooky place. This forest is considered to be the setting for many fairytales, werewolves, witches, and dwarf people. 

Wychwood Forest, United Kingdom

Wychwood Forest in England, United Kingdom is considered to be a scary place. This forest used to be part of a large royal hunting ground. 

Some people who visited here claimed to felt disembodied hands upon their shoulders and they also claimed to see the shades of crying children and heard their cries.

Though many other legends surround this area but probably the most famous legend regarding Wychwood Forest is that of the ghost of Amy Robsart, the wife of Earl of Leicester.

It is said that she was found dead in a palace near this forest and there were rumours that her husband murdered her and then her ghost confronted her husband that he will die in the next 10 days and he did.

It is said that her ghost still roams aro8und this forest and if somebody encountered her will meet the same fate as the Earl of Leicester.
