Kappa is a mythological creature in Japanese folklore

Kappa is also known in names like Kawataro and Komahiki in Japan which means river child and water monkey in English.

According to Japanese folklore, Kappa can be tall as 5 feet and it has a human child-like size. Kappa is often said to be inhabited in the rivers and ponds of Japan. Even though Kappa only has a small size, but it is physically stronger than a human adult.

The skin colour of Kappa contains colours like light & deep green and also there is a turtle-like shell at its back.

There is a bird-like beak on Kappa's mouth but besides having a beak it said that Kappa can fluently speak many languages.

Kappa has similarities with amphibians and that's why Kappa is regarded as an amphibious yōkai monster.

Kappa's hands have skin between its fingers like a frog which enables it to dive deep fastly.

Kappa is considered most dangerous for domestic animals like dogs, cows, and horses etc... 

Kappa is also considered a danger for women and children as it kills them by drowning and then drinks their blood and eats their flesh.

Kappa is not always antagonistic. In fact, they have some good deeds like helping farmers in agriculture, helping fisherman and saving humans from drowning, if befriended.

Kappa has a dish at the top of its head containing water and that's its weakness. As per the folklore is if the water spills out Kappa will become weak and vulnerable and it will be easy to defeat it.

It is also said that if a person refills the water on the dish at the top of its head then that Kappa will serve him.

It is said Kappa is very clever and has an enormous knowledge of medicines.

It is also said that a Kappa can be befriended by offering it cucumber, soya and mushrooms etc...
