This Urban Legend is based on a highway in Northern Seoul called Jayu - ro. Jayu-ro Highway itself is notorious as a creepy haunted spot where countless fatal accidents took place. The most famous legend of this highway is that of a ghost of a woman which is also known as the hollow-eyed woman and hitchhiker ghost woman.

So many Koreans considered writing somebody's name with a red pen an extremely bad omen, They believe that writing somebody's name with red ink can cause bad luck and even death. So many Koreans avoid using red ink as a safety measure and many places forbid red inks too...

Legends Related to Washrooms

Just like its neighbouring country Japan, Korea also has many scary legends related to washrooms especially public washrooms and washrooms of the schools. There is an urban legend in Korea that is pretty much similar to the Japanese urban legend of Aka Manto. It is also referred as the Koran Aka Manto, as per this legend a ghost emerges from the toilet and asks to choose blue paper or red paper.

If you choose red then it will cut you half and if you choose blue then it will choke you. There are many other legends related to washrooms another legend that is similar to the legend of the Hanako san in Japan, this legend mentions how a girl got killed in a washroom and her ghost now haunts the washroom.
